It is also worth pointing out that one of the earliest known markers for mental health problems that is common to most severe mental health issues is that of self medication (aka substance abuse, either legal or otherwise).

"...perhaps then..." said the goblin "...it had something to do with the fact that all those drugs which normally work for the rest of us, such as alcohol, cigarettes, Internet, television, shopping and football, were no longer having their desired effect on those people who had grown disfunctional here, hence their turning to self medication to fill the void left by it...", somehow the goblin felt that most people were borderline in fact, and that they would probably become as equally disfuctional as the others if their addictions were withdrawn from them, saying "...well, what with sedatives to relax us, stimulants to excite us, and distractions to give us temporary escape, we actually manage to get through each dreary day doing societies bidding..."

repost from elsewhere

"...ah my madness..." repeated the goblin to himself, as in the right side of his brain writing out those visions conceived on its left side of his brain, while actually presuming too, that between his coffee and the music, he could somehow escape outside himself by it, madness indeed he knew, "...well it's all practice for my old age then..." he joked now, not really joking though, for the goblin would never retire as in "just vegetate in some Merlin's cave", adding "...oh no not I, ones "Internet self" is a serious proposition here, especially when that alternative, of a repetitively stark sane old age, is just telling one to "go for it" each time...", somehow the question was never "what the goblin would eventually become on the outside" for that was obvious, no the real question was what lay within him

repost from elsewhere

the goblin could always relate to that post, saying "...the old ways are gone now, while today's ways seem permanent by comparison, yet it's only an illusion of permanence, as everything outside of oneself is undergoing change, while, that which is within oneself too, is changing in its turn, so the only thing that remains constant throughout in ones life is the connection between those two then, the connection between the outside and inside of oneself that is, simply "all except for being alive" moves on now...", so somehow, by its inevitable change then, it was just so easy to resent ones reality on the outside by growing bitter on the inside as so many people eventually did it seemed,  "...ah but, who wins here, you or your dailylife..." asked the goblin to himself often enough when he had had to let go of someone again, or something for that matter, adding "...oh yes, on the outside ones dailylife owns everything for sure, it might offer you its gifts according to the season of your life, where one can't get away from it, no independence from all that then, but only a real fool surrenders his soul to something in dailylife only to grow bitter when that season passes, so who wins here then, someone who is bitter that the season has passed, or someone who is happy from within now..."

"...true, perhaps if I could ever really get these posts right to myself I wouldn't need to continue here, since I
reposto from elsewhere

would already know for sure what I am thinking...", so part of the goblin at this point was living his life normally, yes, but another part of him was watching the slide of the dollar under the largest debt in America's short history, adding "...so it seems that our distractions are wearing thin now, and yes, you and I might be helpless here, but I promise now that I won't look the other way while this happens, patriotism is, at its base, knowing by heart those principals that one holds to towards ones country, and holding one country to them then..."

repost from elsewhere

Quote
I feel positive sometimes and then something lets me down again so I hit rock bottom, it feels sometimes as if something won't let me break free from what I'm feeling

"...chin up, dailylife is trying to break you now, it offers you such fears and hungers as to bind your spirit to its bidding, and if you judge yourself by its standards, you'll hunger for that which you once had, or that which you don't yet have, and you'll fear the loss of that which you now have, and of that which might be taken from you still, simply you're playing its game here if your connect your soul to your dailylife like this..." ventured the goblin who never quite forgot the short time he had talked to those people who were dying on that lupusbot site, who, by the fact that they were actually dying, really had nothing then, adding "...chin up, dailylife loses here, for compared to them then, what right have any of us to feel unhappy now..."

repost from elsewhere

"...you're doing well xxxxx, ones ability to write is at the base of all of this then, even though most people feel that they aren't actually writers here, and this isn't writing because they it's not "published" as if it were that publishing world, and you the reader here, who decide things now..." ventured the goblin, adding "...or, if it's not this writing side of this that appeals to you now, I could mention that your posts show you to yourself do they not, or that they build up in you an ability to think in text and pictures, or that these posts takes snapshots of your life like a diary would, all this then, yes, but if I were really to confess my own reason as to why I continue to post on like this, I would simply say "I want to cover the walls of Merlin's cave with meaningful imagery", which, after all, is where ones old age ends up doesn't it, oh and yes that cave is unavoidable I know, though by then these cave paintings that I practice writing out now, will be my imagination's escape from that cave, so it's what I do now, and not what results by it, that matters to me here, confession over..."

repost from elsewhere, just sharing

the goblin laughed, saying "...it's nice to see that I am not the only one mad then, that picture is perfect and you're matching your texts imaginatively too, posting evolves, suddenly one is posting for real here, not for others but for something within,  the real question being "what in my life is worth posting", isn't that what this game is all about now...", and although the goblin's posting waxed and wained, he was incapable of not posting for long "...no those ghosts of ones past don't die with time, they only wait for their moment when one is ready to face them again, that's all, so perhaps in this way posting is that coup de grâce they're waiting for..."

repost from elsewhere, the subject being SCT as in Social Constructionist Theories

“...anyway, identities need something to be identified by, and to be identified means one has an identity does it not, therefore "social classification" exists only within the context of this relationship of a “classifying society” on the one hand, and the effort of the “self classification” of the individual on the other, so it is within this cross identification then, that both those “traits of identification” - as seen in: fashion, moral stance, physical attributes, possessions and mental qualities - are recognized, and where “social judgments” - as seen in: encouraged, tolerated, or discouraged - are passed, either by the society that is, or by the individual here...” but the goblin was anonymous, perhaps he couldn't claim to have an identity until society had identified him, perhaps the goblin felt too that there were three levels of recognition here, “stereotyping” which is a base classification, “classification” which is base identification, and actual “identification” which was where those traits matched, “...alas you will identify me by my traits then..." mused the goblin again, as if knowing that someone anonymous would rarely act out of character, adding "....funny how our identities just seem mere byproducts of some simple socially recognized traits then...”, as once more the goblin's mind drifted in and out of his thoughts while yet another day passed on around him, mind you his days rarely seemed to do anything else but pass by in their daily fashion, perhaps they seemed to laugh at goblin's assumption of his importance in even needing an identity then

repost from elsewhere, someone battling his cigarette problem

"...some things are worse than those cigarettes then, for example what are the two biggest killers of the elderly today, well aren't they social withdrawal and television..." mentioned the goblin, explaining "...not keeping oneself mentally active, the mind will sink into senility in the end, moreover, having given up cigarettes is ample proof that you have both seen and adjusted one obvious habit here, so the question remains whether you have seen your others now, and whether you wish to draw up a "list of habits" to fine tune the course of your life over the long run, or whether you just wish to do nothing and have them to catch up with you at a later date, if you get a later date that is...", but that was the goblin for you, somehow he knew that most humans didn't do anything until forced to, simply their old age was someone else to them

repost from elsewhere,

and with that the goblin showed saying "...see what happens when you mix your "real life" selves with you Internet personas, you just give people the rod by which they then can flay your back with, whereas now, if you had remained anonymous, what could they hurt you with...", in fact, the goblin simply understood that at the end of the day most sites folded or migrated, that their members came and went, that threads would die, and one would no doubt get banned from somewhere for whatever, it just happened it was life, so no, something more fundimental had to be sought here he felt, saying "...look, it isn't what people think of you that matters when one is anonymous, it's getting into the habit of posting before one is too old to perfect it, just you against your old age then, you against your "dailylife" too, for it's easy to waste ones short life on all this superficiality here, where don't you want instead to be challenging yourself as to what can come up with for yourself, since, at the end of the day you alone remain the one constant throughout, not some site nor its members..."

repost from elsewhere

the goblin looked at the american economy, not so much by the Dow Jones standard, as by the dollar in ones pocket, saying "...it is just a conjecture on my part, but let's say someone offered you a choice between being saddled with a debt in 100 US dollars, or one of a hundred Mexican pesos, I imagine you would go for the Mexican debt, rather than US one that is, the "why/because" being that it is just easier to wipe off a debt which has less value...", the goblin paused for a second, then continued "...well the US can't, in any way, pay back its trillion dollar debt now, so this year it has printed more dollars than at any point in its previous history, without actually telling you that they intend to use icy dicey, aka inflation caused devaluation of currency, as their tool to wipe off the debt here...", yet the goblin so much wanted to be wrong about this conjecture now, and how he saw things progressing here, and about this notion of icy dicey, and "the half life of money" again

repost from elsewhere, infighting on the "last post" thread

"...welcome, now for those viewers who have just joined us from elsewhere, this thread is basically about some people you don't know, making less than gratuitous remarks you don't understand, to those who aren't listening..." mentioned the goblin again, adding "...though, other than that then, actual constructive conclusions remain somewhat elusive it seems..."

repost from elsewhere

Quote
In order to win one must first be willing to enter the competition, but as Rhett Butler once said... "Frankly my dear, I can't be arsed", though I may be paraphrasing there slightly.

"...the only win here is the one won against oneself, besides, don't you want to know who you by what you post..." replied the goblin who simply understood that it wasn't what one wrote, so much as not giving up, that mattered here, adding "...well now, people who can't be arsed often wind up obese moving about on some electric wheelchair, or sad in some old age home regretting that they hadn't tried to write from years back now...", in fact, the goblin was always selfish, not really caring who else did, or didn't post, only that he knew too, that if he didn't at least try to get it right to himself, he would simply be living his dailylife at surface level again, adding "...oh, it's all too easy to become the donkey in pinocchio then, but one can't then blame dailylife for ones own indifference here, for these days will just pass all the same..."

repost from elsewhere, the "writing styles" thread

Quote
Well, I crap at spelling and I don't care, and I doubt anyone else does either, so there

"...quite right, for if you write perfectly, then you simply betray you age here..." replied the goblin again, adding "...whereas, if you contort you writing style a little, you simply leave them guessing so to speak...", in fact, the goblin used to write normally too, but he seemed so much older when he did so

the goblin welcomed everyone to this thread then, saying "...you win, yes, but then life moves on, and one has to win again repeatedly, doesn't one...", as if, once more, the path of the goblin's imagination stretched before him here, simply he could write absolutely anything now, and win by it he knew, but he then knew too, that he had to then live with what he had written, "...you see, in dailylife it is all too clear who one is as there's the mirror, ones bank statement, certificates of education, passport, family, and all the rest that goes up to make the "you" that you know yourself by, and yet, here on the Internet, there is only that which you write to create yourself, you are only what you write here then..."
