Not as many are aware of this pioneering gospel singer, songwriter and recording artist as should be...IMHO! But she achieved great popularity in the 1930s and 1940s with a unique mixture of spiritual lyrics and early rock accompaniment...yes, I said "rock!" She became the first great recording star of Gospel music, surfacing on the pop charts with her 1938 original composition "This Train."
Now, I'm not sure I have the lyrics just right because these are different from her other recordings, so listen and help me out, please!! Anyway, I really, really like this version, and I hope you enjoy it, too! This Trainby Sister Rosetta Tharpehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ztB-AFpPkk&feature=relatedThis train is a free train This train This train is a free train This train This train is a free tain Everybody ride it in Jesus' name This train is a free train This train
